Veterinarians Dr Arthur C Webster and Dr Robert Johnson have both been honoured as Members of the Order of Australia (AM) in this week’s Australia Day honours list. Dr Webster AM was recognised for his significant services to veterinary science, business and the tertiary education sector in Australia, with his career having included contributions to the development of veterinary vaccines, such as for canine parvovirus.

Dr Johnson AM was recognised for significant service to veterinary science, and to professional societies. He manages a veterinary and zoological consultancy in Sydney, and is a past-president of the Australian Veterinary Association and current Chair of the veterinary charity Vets Beyond Borders.

“It has been a challenging couple of years, and the recipients are a reminder and reflection of the richness of spirit, selflessness and good in our community. Collectively, the recipients, whose achievements span community service, science and research, industry, sport, the arts and more, represent the strength and diversity of Australia,” said Governor-General David Hurley.
